Punters at Virgin Bet will find markets on all 24 Grand Prix per season. There are no clumsy pitlane entries or wheel lock-ups here, just competitive odds and in-depth markets.

Formula 1 Betting Odds & Markets

The on-track action can be frantic and nail-biting. At Virgin Bet, we bring a sense of calm to proceedings and offer competitive Formula 1 betting odds for every driver. We accept bets on the winner of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the Constructors’ Championship, a podium finish in Monaco, and everything in between.

Our shorter-term single-race selections are settled almost as quickly as the fastest lap time at Monza. Keep a close eye on our “Promotions” page, with price boosts on selected races and other deals available throughout the F1 season.

Formula 1 Championship Outright Odds

Virgin Bet offers outright markets on the World Drivers’ Championship (WDC) and the World Constructors’ Championship (WCC). This is betting on the best driver and the best team come the end of the season.

Every driver who finishes in a top 10 position in an F1 race will earn points. It’s not quite as simple as 3 points for a win in football. Grand Prix winners receive 25 points, and the runner-up 18. The number of points reduces until the 10th-place finisher earns 1 point. 36 points are also up for grabs during the sprint race.

Season points are then calculated to determine the drivers’ and constructors’ champions. Mercedes, McLaren, Ferrari, and Red Bull are some of the names you may have heard of. That’s because they regularly compete for the highest prizes. Lando Norris won the Drivers’ Championship in 2025 after finishing with 423 points, just 2 points clear of Max Verstappen.

Grand Prix Race Day Markets

F1 betting odds across multiple markets are available before the first practice session and as the cars battle it out on the track. These are some of the most popular markets for racing fans:

  • Race Winner: The driver who crosses the chequered flag first.
  • Podium Finish: The driver who records a top three finish.
  • Points Finish: The driver who finishes in the top 10.
  • First Retirement: The driver who exits the race first due to a crash, injury/illness, mechanical issue, or a technical failure.

So, it’s not all about which driver will stand at the top of the podium. Betting on Formula 1 at Virgin Bet caters to newcomers to the sport and petrol heads who’ve followed races since childhood.

If you’ve been following F1 for some time, you’ll understand just how quickly a race can change. It really isn’t over until it’s over, with some race positions altered post-race because of time penalties.

Live In-Play Formula 1 Betting

F1 is one of the most exciting sports around. The introduction of a safety car, a sudden downpour, or a mechanical malfunction can flip in-play odds on their head. You can use our modern and neatly organized live betting platform to follow the action and track prices.

With Formula 1 betting online, you can add your selections to your betslip in a single tap. You’ll find that odds adjust naturally following key incidents. It could be a textbook pit stop, a shift in energy deployment, or a change in team strategy.

With 50/50 power splits, 100% sustainable fuels, and electric energy, F1 cars are more competitive than before. It’s not out of the question for a driver to come from the back of the grid to win or to recover from incidents to claim a podium finish.

Explaining the Formula 1 Grand Prix Weekend Format

There’s no shortage of action over an F1 Grand Prix weekend. Cars take to the track from Friday to Sunday, and here’s what a typical schedule looks like:

  • Free Practice (Friday): Virgin Bet doesn’t accept bets on practice sessions. This is where drivers, team principals, and mechanics are getting race-ready. Tyre and setup data are collected, and drivers get to grips with the track. On a standard Grand Prix weekend, there are three sessions, each lasting 60 minutes. This only changes on sprint race weekends, of which you’ll find 6 during the 2026 F1 season.
  • Qualifying (Saturday): Drivers complete timed laps to determine the grid position on which they will start the Grand Prix. 6 drivers are eliminated after Q1 (18 minutes) and Q2 (15 minutes), before the fastest 10 have 13 minutes to compete for pole. Watch out for grid penalties, often handed out by race officials for technical or behavioural infringements. The 2026 season will feature 22 drivers, with Cadillac joining as the 11th team.
  • Grand Prix Race (Sunday): Race day. Drivers go head-to-head over up to 78 laps to win points. Most races have a distance of just 305 kilometres. Monaco is the exception, with a distance of 260 km.

Key Factors to Consider When Betting on Formula 1

As we touched on above, F1 is a sport based on fine margins. Betting on Formula 1 requires careful analysis. Formula 1 betting on Sunday involves considering the circuit type, overtaking difficulty, track temperature, and weather conditions. You can evaluate markets intelligently when you consider these factors:

  • Track Layouts: Every F1 circuit is different. Dedicated motor racing fans will be familiar with the high-speed corners and overtaking opportunities at Monza and Spa. It’s almost a complete role reversal at Monaco and Baku. These street circuits have fewer overtaking opportunities and place more emphasis on qualifying. This will impact strategy and the race dynamic.
  • Weather Conditions: You’ll notice that F1 teams keep a close eye on the weather forecast. That’s because a change in track temperature or an upcoming rain shower requires a change in strategy. Team decisions, including strategy and tyre choice, are impacted by weather changes. Who remembers Lewis Hamilton’s famous title-winning drive in rainy Brazil back in 2008?
  • Practice Times: Free Practice 2 (FP2) is often a good indicator of which drivers will have the best pace come race day. FP2 is a 1-hour session on Friday afternoon used by constructors to simulate race situations and evaluate tyre compounds.
